ACTIVITIES

Enjoy hiking in the Lost Pines, fishing on the Colorado River, plus golfing, Bingo, boating, and more!

Whether you're hoping to get out on the lake, play bingo, visit the local dance hall, go onto the golf course, you'll find just what you're looking for when you stay at Buena Vista RV Park in Elgin Texas. With our setting near the outdoor activities of Lake Bastrop and the Lost Pines region, we have plenty of open spaces and fishing areas. And since we're just twenty-five minutes from downtown Austin, you can also enjoy the nightlife, restaurants, museums, and live music of Texas's capital city.

Plan a day of golfing at one of our nearby courses, rock climbing at McKinney Roughs, fishing at Lake Bastrop, or playing BINGO at the hall that's just down the road from our Austin-area RV park. Enjoy jogging or biking along our access road or head to the Elgin VFW hall for dances and other events. Rodeos take place just three miles from us at the Texas Lost Pines Riding Club, plus scenic walks at the Austin State Capitol or along the Colorado River Walk in Bastrop.

Boating and fishing enthusiasts can choose from one of our gorgeous nearby waterways. Spend a day fly fishing on the Colorado River or make use of our local boat rentals for a day of boating at McKinney Roughs Nature Park or on beautiful Lake Bastrop. You can put your craft in the water at Bastrop State Park, do some fishing, and return to Buena Vista RV Park in time for songs around the campfire or an evening cook-out. Hikers and backpackers can explore the deep woods of the Lost Pines, following the Independence Trail, or trek the paths of the McKinney Roughs Nature Park.

For fairs and festivals, Elgin Texas is the place to be! Join us in April for the annual Fireman's BBQ Cook-Off and the Elgin Easter Egg Hunt, then in June for the Juneteenth Festival (in Historic Downtown) and the Western Days Festival, Parade, and Rodeo. Between May and July our area hosts a Community Wide Garage Sale, a great place to go for shopping, antique hunting, and bargaining. And in the Fall we celebrate the Chili Pepper Festival (third Saturday in September), the Elgin Sausage Stampede 5K/1K Run (mid October), and the Annual Hogeye Festival (late October). We also go all out for the holidays with a lighted parade and tours of local holiday lights all through December. Also, we are located only 15 minutes from the Renaisance Festival that takes place in March/April.
